Squiggly Christmas Trees

Hiya! I recently bought a new Lavinia stamp, which I think is really designed to be for trailing foliage, but in the Lavinia For You FB group I saw someone use it as a Christmas tree, and it looks beautiful! So I had to have a go... I stamped the 'tree', and then masked off the panel, and used torn paper, ink dusters and inks to create the background. I added some 3D sparkle with Nuvo Glitter Drops, and then added snow by using watered-down gouache, flicked at the card. Yes, it went everywhere! But I love the effect. Thanks very much to Debbie for helping me with the technique! xx

Scribbly Flowers

Hi! Here's a card inspired by this week's Less Is More challenge. I stamped the flowers and sentiment, then stamped another small flower on a scrap of card, to layer about the small flower on the card. I really don't like fussy cutting, but I like the extra dimension it has given. I coloured with inks and a water brush, inspired by the colours at the Paper Play challenge, although I had to mix a couple of the colours as I didn't quite have anything that matched. I added some Nuvo Drops to the flower centres to make them stand out a little bit more, and used a Wink of Stella brush to add some shimmer to the flowers, although it hasn't shown up very well on the photos!

Cream, Yellow & Pink

Hiya! I wanted to make a card for the current colour challenge at Rubber Dance, but I was a bit stumped as to how to use these 3 colours. In the end I kept it simple. I used distress oxides smooshed onto an acrylic block and spritzed with water, to make a cream, yellow and pink background, then stamped a flower 3 times over the top. I coloured the spots in the middle of the flower using the cream oxide, to get an opaque coverage, and for the petals I used 'normal' distress ink, so that the pink would blend a little with the background colour. I used my new big shot (I love it!) to cut a frame for the flowers, and used 3D squares to lift it a little bit from the flowers.

Block Watercolour Stamping

Hi! The challenge over at Just Us Girls is all about block watercolour stamping. There's a video here about how to do it. I had to have a go, and I tried it with my distress oxides, because I am obsessed with them. I wanted to make a rainbow background, inspired by the CASE challenge at Time Out, so I inked up the block in lines of colour, spritzed it with water, and plonked it down onto a spare piece of hammered card. The video said to use watercolour paper, so I wasn't sure how mine would turn out, but the colours are really rich! I let it dry completely, then stamped the border, the flower and the sentiment. I coloured the flower and the stems in the border with inks, used a Wink of Stella brush on the flowers and leaves. I added a button to the centre of the flower - it's a painted abalone shell button which I have a stash of but had never found a use for, but it matched the colours perfectly! I added a small black ribbon and bow to the underneath of the border to finish it off.

Red Flower

Hi! Here's another patchwork flower card. I stamped and clear embossed, then coloured with inks and a water brush. I used a deep red for the flower, and dark green for the leaf and stem, to bring out the white patterns of the stamp. I backed the flower onto kraft and green cardstock, then added a silver flower charm on a strip of leather.

Patchwork Flower

Hi! Here's a card I made using a flower stamp from Rubber Dance - I love the patchwork look to it! I stamped and clear embossed the flower onto watercolour paper, then coloured with inks and a water brush, and added a soft background wash for sky. I added the birthday sentiment and a small punched flower. I added white dots to the centre so it matched the stamped flower.

Cats Cats Cats

Hiya! Here's a birthday card I made with my new Indigo Blu stamp, 'Kibble Kits', inspired by the CAS-ual Fridays challenge. I stamped on Kraft card and embossed in white. The cat stamp is a rectangle, so I cut it down to a square, and with the spare section I cut out some cats to add to the bottom of the card. It's a card for a cat-mad man, so hopefully he will like it. I have resisted the urge to add any bling or sparkle!

Anniversary Card

Hiya. Here's an anniversary card, made using the 'Love Is' stamp from Indigo Blu. I stamped and embossed the heart, then coloured with inks and ink dusters, an orangey centre deepening to red towards the edge, although I made the centre too dark. It hasn't got as much contrast to the outer colour as I intended! I spritzed with water to give it a bit of a mottled effect.
