First Bag of 2019! A bag for my Mum in Law

Hi! I finished this bag yesterday morning. I should've made it weeks ago, but I was nervous about adding the recessed zip - it's a magnetic snap in the pattern. Also, my Mum in law bought the fabric, and I wasn't sure where to get more if I made a mistake! But anyway, it's finished now, and I am so happy! I love how it has turned out. I'll be handing it over tomorrow, so I really hope she'll be pleased with it!

A friend of mine recently started a quilting course, and when she explained the Disappearing Nine Patch technique, I was fascinated, and had to have a go! So here are 5 make-up pouches I made, using the Disappearing Nine Patch, with a cork or faux leather base to make them firm enough to stand upright.

This one was a present for the friend who caused my quilting obsession:

I made these two with the same fabrics but different bases. I think I prefer the darker one.

 

I'm not sure how well these fabrics show off the disappearing nine patch pattern, because there's so much going on, but I really love the effect anyway. Love these fabrics!

Very very very very very late birthday present

Hi! Here's a bag I made for my Aunt, for her birthday. I only finished it a couple of weeks ago, and her birthday was in August, but it's the thought that counts? :-s Well anyway, I fell in love with the antique Singer fabric, and love how it goes with the gold-streaked cork. Hopefully she likes it too!

Elephant Cork Koda Bag

Hi! This one was an order for a Christmas present. It's made with cork fabric and inky blue cotton fabric by Dashwood Studio. I absolutely love this elephant design cork fabric, and it's lovely to use, very soft. I think I am a cork addict now.

Cork Purse Obsession

Hi! I thought I'd make a little purse out of cork, but couldn't decide which cork fabric to use. I got a bit carried away! But I think they're really cute, and would be useful to clip onto a belt, or give to someone with a gift card inside.

Elephant Cork Zippy Pouch

Hi! Here's a cork pouch I made a few days ago, to got with a Koda bag I made a while back. This is the first time I've made one of these pouches with cork, and I love it! I though the cork might be a bit too stiff for something small, but it's fine. I want to make more of these!

This is based on a free pattern, the Flat bottom straight(ish) sides zippy pouch, from Very Berry Handmade, although I do the zip tabs a little bit differently.
