Ruby

Hi. My lovely neighbour Ruby passed away on Friday. She had been ill for a few months, and in hospital with pneumonia for the last couple of weeks, but it was still a shock. She was such a lovely lady, and she used to look after our cats while we were away. She loved baking, and often popped round with cakes for us. We have known her for 17 years, and the street won't be the same without her.

I wanted to make a Sympathy card for her family, but I find them so difficult. You want them to somehow express how you feel, and they'll always fall short. I ended up trying a couple of designs, but went with the one with the vase of flowers in the end. I suppose that although they are difficult to make, sympathy cards are also a bit of therapy, giving you something to do when you feel so sad and empty.

Anyway, here are the cards I made:

I'm entering this one in the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps: "Clean and Simple"
Watercooler Wednesday: "All About Occasions"
MAWTT: "Flowers"
That's Crafty: "Feeling Blue"

I'm entering this one in the following challenges:

So sorry for the loss of your neighbor and friend. Such a difficult thing to lose someone close and you're right the sympathy card is probably one of the most difficult to make, although it can be cathartic for our soul too. Yours is beautiful in it softly mixed blues and sweet flower images. I really like the sentiment . clean and simple in expression. Thanks so much for joining us this week for our All About Occasions challenge at Watercooler Wednesday.

So sorry to hear of your loss, it is never an easy task to create sympathy cards especially when they are for someone close. Both cards are designed with empathy and a perfect way to pass your support and comfort to your neighbours. Thank you very much for sharing with us over at That's Crafty. Warmest of Wishes Tracey DT

The loss of such a special person in your life is very difficult for everyone. However I'm sure her family appreciated your thoughts and support and this very beautiful and elegant card. It is so delicate and special and conveys just the right message for such a special lady. Thanks so much for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday Challenge!

Hi Jen, I know what you mean about sympathy cards. No matter what one says or how lovely the card, one always feels that they fall short of what one really wishes to communicate. That said, your cards are lovely. I especially love the stunning spray of blue and white blossoms in that delicately coloured blue vase. The tiny gold centres of the blossoms really add to the elegance. I'm sure Ruby's family will love their card and will understand how much she meant to you. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
