Since the NEC Hobbycraft show a few weeks ago, I've been obsessed with using brushes (ink dusters) to make inky backgrounds - it's much easier than battling with my brayer :-) Here are a few of the cards I've been making over the last few days:
I am entering this one in the Less Is More 'Three Shades of Green' challenge.
I masked the area to ink and stamp, and clear embossed a couple of the images before using the ink dusters and stamping the image in different colours.
The ink dusters are also great for making backgrounds for my Lavinia stamps:

Brigitte, I used ink dusters (they look like shaving brushes) to ink the backgrounds. I have really struggled using brayers and cut&dry foam, and find these brushes much easier to build up colour. I got mine from Inkylicious. If you haven't used them before, I really recommend them - they are MAGIC!

I bought some of those ink dusters at the SEC in March and can't get the hang of them- What ink are you using? I think that's my problem.

I've used Adirondack inks, and Stampin' Up inks. They seem to work fine for me.
What's going wrong for you when you use them? I work from the edges, moving the brush in circles. If I'm using a particularly wet ink I brush on a bit of scrap paper first.
Oh, I'm using matt card from Papermill - it went wrong when i tried to use glossy card :(
