Goodbye Frank, our beautiful cat

My beautiful Frank passed away last Friday, and we are heart broken. We were so lucky to have known him for the last 12 years, but he has left a huge gap in our house.

Frank was a very loving and attention-seeking cat, and liked being carried around on my shoulder. He had a lovely purr, and was very soft and fluffy.

He was also very cheeky and playful. He liked the upstairs window to be open at all times, in case he wanted to come through, even though he had a cat flap downstairs. Here's a photo of him knocking to come in.

He loved snuggling into anything soft, especially clean washing and my fleecy dressing gown, and any crocheting left around.

He liked to drink out of the tap in the bathroom, and loved to be stroked while I was in the bath or shower. If I didn't notice him fast enough, he'd reach up at me and make mewling noises until I stopped what I was doing and cuddled him.

He loved catnip, and we could never never get it to grow in the garden because it was always smothered before it had chance to grow. Here's a photo of him trying to get at it through a protective cage:

He loved being in the garden, especially on the swing, and under the pussy willow tree.

Christmas isn't going to be the same without our beautiful Frankie.

We're giving his brother, Bob, a lot of fuss. I hope he'll be ok without Frank. We've given him a new box, which seems to be helping. Bob really loves boxes.

Goodbye, Frankie. Thank you so much for being a part of our family. We love you and will miss you so much, little sweetheart xxx

New Bracelets

I sold a couple of my bracelets on Thursday, which has sparked off fresh enthusiasm to make jewellery :) I made a few bracelets, a pendant and a pair of earrings over the last few days:

Another reason for my renewed interest is that a friend of mine is now making jewellery, and her enthusiasm is infectious! A few of her creations are now on Etsy, here: Fairy Dust Sparkles

And More Beads

Had a great time last Sunday, making beads for the first time in months! No idea where the time goes, and can't believe it has been so long.

Anyway, here's what I made:

Colour Throwdown Challenge

There's a challenge over at Colour Throwdown:

I'm entering this card in the challenge:

A Reiki Thank You

Here's a card I made for a friend. She needed a Thank You card for a friend who loves cats, reiki and purple. This is what I came up with. I hope she'll like it :)

I printed the reiki symbol, cat and sentiment, stamped flowers with versamark and clear embossed them, then used ink dusters to add colour. I stamped more flowers in red and purple, and then made a beaded embellishment to hang from the side, made with a handmade glass bead, an amethyst chip, and spiralled wire.

Flower Trees

Lately I've been trying to make 2 of every card rather than one, cutting down on the time I spend planning and faffing! Anyway, I made a flower tree and got a bit carried away - ended up making 6, in different colours:

I used ink dusters for the background, a digi for the tree, and then inked up some white paper scraps to punch flowers out of, as the inked colour looked more mottled and interesting than just using coloured card.

I'm entering the red one in the following challenges:
Anything Goes - Make Your Own Background
Crafty Creations - A Summer Scene
Cupcake Craft Challenges - Flowers

Something Fishy...

My lovely neighbour across the road has a grandson who just turned 18. He's really into fishing, so we got him some vouchers for fishing gear, and I've had a go at making a fishing-related card. I really don't like making cards for blokes, as they don't seem to appreciate glitter, ribbon or flowers :-s  So here's my attempt at a blokey fishing-related card:

I'm entering this in the following challenges:
By the Cute & Girly - Boys / Men
The Squirrel & the Fox - One for The Men
Wags 'n' Whiskers - Sports

The Birthday Witch

Friends of ours have a baby girl who turned 1 on Saturday, so I needed to make her a 1st birthday card. However, her parents love witches, dragons, vampires & all things gothy, so I thought I'd try to make a gothy card instead of the traditional baby card.

I used a cute little witch stamp, from Cute Creepie Stamps, and embellished with glass beads, silver star beads and a homemade little wire daisy.

It didn't turn out quite as planned, as it looks like it's for a gothy 10 year old than for a baby, but fortunately her parents seemed to like it :)
